About Marcus Penrose:

double bass teacher online

Marcus was a musician from an early age, initially being taught and encouraged by his Father who played in popular Cornish bands in the 1960’s and it’s thanks to him and many other inspiring teachers that Marcus became a professional bass player.
Marcus studied music at Middlesex University and the prestigious Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and has lived and worked as a musician in the capital ever since. He has performed extensively in the London jazz scene and has played at prestigious venues such as the Vortex, Jazz Cafe and Pizza Express, Soho as well as festivals like Glastonbury, Shetland Folk Festival and Fengaros in Cyprus. Performances have also taken him to France, Germany, Portugal and many other locations.
Marcus has remained a versatile and open minded musician and has worked with artists from the world of folk and blues such as Ben Faulkner’s Bonfire Band and Adam Beattie and singer-songwriters such as Baxter Dury, son of the legendary Ian Dury as well as some of the Uk’s most innovative jazz artists.
He has played on over a dozen commercially available albums as well as sessions for library and film and tv music.
In recent years Marcus has also worked extensively as a composer. In 2018 he was involved in creating and performing music for the comedy theatre show ‘The Lost Disc’ in Soho Theatre and in the same year he co-wrote the original musical score for a hit version of A Christmas Carol with the internationally renowned Theatre company, Spymonkey. It was performed at Liverpool Playhouse.
He composed an album of original compositions with his trio, Aurelius. The album was released in late 2018 and has received some great reviews. double bass lessons double bass teacher online double bass lessons double bass lessons on zoom upright bass lessons online
